Sunday, September 18, 2005 - Well
Well - Today was the big first aniversary. I went in early this morning and helped Rob make a giant card out of brown paper grocery bags from Stop and Shop. I taped the bags together under his able direction and then he drew a picture and composed and wrote the message. It was an accomplishment of gigantic proportions. I don’t think I have ever seen him work so hard on something. Kessler provided a private room and Mandy brought candles, dishes and various wedding mementos to provide ambiance. They enjoyed a lovely meal ( thanks to Wayne and El) and shared some laughs and a few tears to mark the occasion. Rob’s visitors today included Aunt Mary (otherwise known as Sister Anita), Arlen Moeller, Aunt Diane and Uncle Eric Hollock, Nick and Erica and Patty Ayers, and Wayne, El and Alexia. One new experience today, Rob felt the needle in his stomach when he received his morning shot of Lovanox (an anti-coagulant). This is a mixed blessing as I understand the shots are quite painful when one can really feel. However, we will take any progress at all at this point. Although Rob loves seeing his visitors we ask that you call Mandy (201-892-5804) before you come. He has a very demanding therapy schedule and he gets very tired. We know many of you are coming a great distance to see him and we want to be sure that you get some quality time with him. Too many people at one time can be very overwhelming. Thanks for understanding.

Friday, September 16, 2005 - It is the end
It is the end of week 3 at Kessler. Rob continues to gain upper body strength and as predicted has bounced back from his period of discouragement. He is becoming more and more independent as far as feeding himself. He says that his physical therapist has him trying to do exercises he doesn’t think he could have done before the accident. That is what he wants and has asked for his occupational therapy to be kicked up a few notches. Mandy is finishing up her first week back at work. She is truly a wonderful woman, strong and determined, exactly what Rob needs right now. We are looking forward to lots of visitors this weekend and of course the anniversary celebration on Sunday. Perhaps there will be some new pictures for the photo gallery. Thanks for your support. Keep those messages coming.
