Saturday, October 01, 2005 - So I’ve just
So I’ve just arrived home after a long day of chasing after the nursing aides at Kessler. Today, Kessler was EXTREMELY understaffed. I honestly think they should cut me a paycheck for my efforts. On more positive note, Walt (Rob’s boss) and his children Walter, Alex and Tiffany stopped by to bring Rob up to speed on some work related issues (well, Tiffany, Walter and Alex really came to scope out the fabulous ‘candy gram’ sent to us by the Turner family) The good news is that Walt set up Rob’s computer with wireless internet so that he can use the computer from the comfort of his own bed. This evening- my mom, uncle Eugene, his fiancé Doreen and her son R.J came by after a long day of completing housework and projects that have been on my “honey do” list for months. Doreen also gave Rob a pedicure and manicure which he very much enjoyed. He ended the evening with a shower and since we couldn’t get any of the nursing aides to put Rob back into bed, we decided to wheel him (wrapped up in about 12 towels) nto the family waiting room where my mom was quietly reading. The kicker is that Rob wanted to enter the room as the ‘ghost†Kessler’ which required me to push him in his shower chair from the floor so that it looked like he floated into the room. In typical Mandy style, the security guard was inspecting the room at the very moment I shoved Rob (from the crawling position)into the room to scare my mom. Unfortunately, our surprise was spoiled by the fact I was hysterically laughing while crawling across the floor. All my mom saw was Rob’s chair magically moving on its own with a ponytail bobbing up and down. It was quite a funny scene and I am still laughing as I am typing this note. At bedtime tonight, Rob began to complain of pain in his legs which is a first. I am praying that this means that we will see leg movement very soon (though it could be a result of an increase in spasms). We’ll see.....
