Tuesday, October 25, 2005 - Spirits Remain Strong

Hello all - I know it has been a few days since we updated and I do apologize for that. Rob’s spirits remain strong. He continues to work hard to improve mobility and has also been working in the tech lab on a voice activated computer program. He is now able to do a weight shift by himself and was able to move his leg even with Marley sitting on it. Mandy is working on her “transfer” skills so that Rob will be eligible for a day pass. The extended Hollock family is descending this weekend to take care of major yard work. My job this week is to gather information on a number of issues that need to be addressed including snow plowing, driveway construction, home health care and other home modification projects. We continue to look for programs that will provide necessary services when Rob comes home but the answer is always “your income level makes you ineligible for any assistance”. No news from the insurance company as of today but it is time for another review so we will see. We will keep you posted. Mom Wall

Saturday, October 22, 2005 - Kiwanis Inception

Dear Family & Friends,

Kiwanis Club has graciously volunteered to open an account for Rob & Mandy for all of us to make donations. This is a great opportunity for them because it allows us to make donations, while not affecting Mandy and Rob’s ability to receive aid. For example, Mandy and Rob are applying for care programs, such as home nursing, transportation, and grants, which are all determined by a sliding scale based on their financial status (thus, making donations directly to them will hurt their ability to receive aid). Therefore, please make all future donations to Sparta Kiwanis (see below).

Please note that if you donate to this account, your donations are tax deductible. Additionally, 100% of your donations will go directly to Mandy and Rob, who will have complete control over how they would like to use the money (essentially it is their own personal account).

This is really a win-win situation, as we are able to make tax deductible donations, Mandy and Rob can use 100% of the money at their sole and absolute discretion, and we do not hinder their ability to receive aid, such as home nursing care.

Therefore, in the future, please make your checks out to:
Sparta Kiwanis.
In the memo portion, please write: Amanda and Robert Wall Account

And please mail your donations to:
Sparta Kiwanis Club
PO Box 173
Sparta, NJ 07871

Thanks!
Heather and Jessie
