Wednesday, October 19, 2005 - National Call In Day

We have a huge favor to ask on behalf of Rob and so many others affected by paralysis. Today has been designated National-Call-In-Day in attempts to get the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act (CRPA) 5.828, H.R. 1554 passed. The CRPA would help to enhance and further research into paralysis and to improve rehabilitation and the quality of life for persons living with paralysis and other physical disabilities, and for other purposes...a cause which you know is near and dear to our hearts.

So...if you find the time on October 19th please call (202) 224-3121 and give the operator your home state and they will connect you to your Rep. office and ask them to PLEASE support CRPA. If you want to read the summary you can go to Life Rolls On Foundation. Thanks

Monday, October 17, 2005 - Well Marion

Well Marion...you MUST have a crystal ball because Rob just had me laughing hysterically about the “joke” he played on his aide this morning. This morning, as requested, Thelma (Rob’s aide) got him completely dressed, except she only pulled his sweatpants up to his knees-he was to finish the job. Thelma then left and told him to call her if he needed help and that she would check on him when she was done getting everyone else dressed. Now, he really did give it “the old college try”, but alas, that day was not today. After about 30 minutes the NURSE came in to perform his intermittent catheterization, which required the undoing of everything he had achieved up to this point which was pulling his pants about 6 inches above his knees. After the IC was finished, he asked the NURSE to pull his pants completely down to his ankles and just for shits and giggles, undo his diaper completely. After the NURSE had safely exited, he yelled “Thelma I can’t finish, it looks like I will need your help”. She came back to inspect his work and found him less dressed than he was when she left. She stared at the spectacle and cried “Robert! This is not how I left you”. Rob responded “I know, you wanted me to undo everything, right?”. Needless to say, he played the act for about 30 more seconds before she shrugged her shoulders and said “I’m going to kill you Robert” and then proceeded to redress him.
