Sunday, October 09, 2005 - Okay, I know

Okay, I know I have posted a ton of message today but desperate times call for desperate measures. Since many of you have offered to help in any way you can, here’s a thought.... Can you all contact HGTV, Martha, extreme makeover, and any other home improvement network or public source you can think of and nominate us for a bathroom make over. Rob cannot use our current bathroom (a wheelchair doesn’t fit through the door or in the shower) so we need to add one on to our house. He can’t come home until we have a bathroom so it is a somewhat urgent issue. p.s. we need a ramp too but we’ll take what we can get. THANK YOU!!!!

One more point…
My understanding from several sources at Kessler is that patients who are on Medicaid have a much easier time remaining at Kessler and securing services when they go home. This may sound INSANE but it really is true. The Medicaid system does not have the utilization review system that private insurances have (i.e. they are not checking in on patient’s progress every week). If we had been on Medicaid prior to Rob’s injury, we would not be having this problem. I believe that the poor deserve adequate healthcare but I also believe the middle class do too.
