Friday, December 16, 2005 - Light Gate Training

Robbie is feeling quite better today, however he is still living on Ricola’s and lemon tea. He had a great therapy session this morning. He attempted the Light Gate again and was quite successful. For those that don’t remember, the Light Gate is a machine that lifts 90% of his body weight off the ground. He was able to take 33 steps, with his therapists guiding his legs. His left leg still remains significantly weaker than the right but hopefully it will catch up soon. He continues to be in a significant amount of pain (in his hands especially) and has recently increased his pain medication. Today is my last day of work so I am happy to have next week off to hang out at Kessler and catch up on all my chores. Tonight is the big poker game so hopefully Rob will win us some cash. We’ll let you know how it ends up…

Thursday, December 15, 2005 - Caught a Cold

Unfortunately, our beloved patient has caught a cold!!!! I guess it was only a matter of time… He was a trooper today though, even though he felt yucky and had almost no voice he went to both therapy sessions. He slept a lot in between his sessions and I hope tomorrow he’ll be feeling more like himself. He did have a nice weekend. On Saturday, we got a day pass so that he could test out the walkway and ramp which went well. We decorated the monster of a Christmas tree I chopped down last weekend with Pam and enjoyed a fire. Ryan Wellner brought us our favorite dinners from Hoboken which was a fabulous treat. We were a little late getting him back to Kessler so we hid him under a blanket when we walked past the nursing station. His roommate Albert said he couldn’t fall asleep until Rob returned. It was pretty cute! For those that don’t know, Albert arrived at Kessler 6 days after Rob and had similar injuries (Rob was c4,5,6 and Albert was c5,6). The good news is that Albert took his first few steps yesterday so we are all very happy for him. On Sunday, Teisha and Fabian visited and shared their wedding and honeymoon photos. It was fun to reminise about our own wedding and honeymoon. Hopefully, Rob will start feeling better so he can get back to working hardsmile
