ROB’S EXIT FROM KESSLER…

will be tomorrow evening. The date of his discharge is exactly 5 months from the date of his injury, August 20, 2005. This weekend also marks exactly one year since we moved into our first home. Kinda funny right? Rob and I are both excited for his return, although there is clearly a lot of anxiety and fear attached. He will be receiving one week of in home physical therapy and nursing before starting his regular routine of outpatient therapy 5x per week. The house is ready for him temporarily but we still have some work that needs to be done (i.e. widening the doorways, installing a french door and knocking out a wall in the bathroom). So even though Rob thinks he’s coming home to a peaceful/quiet house, he is sadly mistaken as there will be lots of bangingsmile Rob’s progress has slowed over the last two weeks, mainly because he has a very bad UTI which caused drastic drops in his blood pressure. He actually passed out two days ago while standing at the parrallel bars. We hope that being discharged from a germ filled hospital will decrease his risk of future infections. On another note, remember the state trooper we requested prayers for a few weeks ago? Unfortunately, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital 3 weeks ago due to having difficulty breathing. He has not yet returned to Kessler which is not a good sign. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts. Also, a 26 year old male passed away at Kessler yesterday upon admission. We don’t know the details but clearly it puts things into perspective. We are so lucky that Rob survived the accident, the surgery, and his first few days in the ICU. He has come so far in 5 months, much further than his doctors every thought. Don’t worry though......he still has his eyes on the prize!!!!

Friday, January 13, 2006 - Discharge Date Set

DISCHARGE UPDATE
Good News!!!! Rob’s new discharge date is next Saturday January 21, 2005 which will be exactly 5 months from the date of injury. We did not have to submit an official appeal because the insurance company overturned their decision before doing so. So Rob is thinking that he feels good about the discharge and is excited to come home. He had a pretty bad week at Kessler because he felt sick. He had a failed attempt at the Light Gait due to low blood pressure. He’ll try again next week though.
