Saturday, March 25, 2006 - Marley’s Birthday

As you can see from the photo, Marley survived her belly ache (thanks to 2 trips to the vet-one at 1am!). We celebrated her 2nd birthday this past Thursday. The cake was a little risky-thank goodness she didn’t have a relapse. Rob and I our enjoying probably our last fire of the season this eveningsmile Looking forward to spring though with plans to set up a garden on the deck so Rob can dig around a bit. This week is the last week of 5x a week therapy. Our insurance runs out so we’ll be cutting it to 3x a week. Rob continues to make great progress with his balance and upper body strength. His right leg has quite a bit of mobility, his left still slow. He did obtain Dorsey flexion (gas pedal) in his left foot which is great. We attribute some of the progress to the addition of a Shiatsu massage therapist which has been coming to the home once per week for about 4 weeks. He’ll be adding some acupuncture in the next week or so for pain management so we’ll see how that goes. Rob’s been going pretty well by himself while I am at work. I come home to candy wrappers EVERYWHERE but hey, developing a cavity is the least of his worries. We are still on the waiting list for a home attendant and will be posting a personal ad soon. Wish us luck with finding someone. Securing a good aide seems to be the ‘thorn in the side’ for many spinal cord patients. That’s about it for now....
