Saturday, June 17, 2006 - Won Appeal

VICTORY!!!!!
We’ve been awaiting word from Cigna regarding the status of two appeals. Cigna had originally denied coverage of an e-stim machine and a standing frame. On Thursday, we received a letter from Cigna stating we had WON our appeal regarding reimbursement for Rob’s e-stim machine (valued at $615). Today, we received a letter from Cigna stating we had WON our appeal regarding the purchase of a standing frame (valued at $4500). I am really starting to wonder if I should have gone to law school. Now we just have to make sure they provide us with the standing frame WE WANT, not some old rickety one they have in storage. It’s an uphill battle but at least we are starting to see the peak!!!! It’s great to finally get some good newssmile

Rob is doing well. He has been doing a lot of standing lately with his personal trainer at home. He also tried the parallel bars at Kessler this week. His therapist was VERY impressed with how well he did (Rob practically had to strong arm her into getting him on the bars). He is standing quite independently on his right leg. Hopefully, with the addition of the standing frame to his home regimen, he’ll get his blood pressure under control. Our insurance officially runs out for therapy this week so the fundraiser was excellent timing. Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weekend!

Tuesday, June 13, 2006 - Run For Robbie Results

Thank you all again for all your fundraising efforts and for attending the race and dinner this past weekend. We know many of you traveled quite far in order to participate and we are so very grateful. It truly was a remarkable day and we still cannot stop talking about it. We had a wonderful time catching up, dancing and even shedding a few tears. We feel tremendously supported and are overwhelmed by the amount of money that was raised for Rob’s treatment. We are so lucky to have all of you in our lives. Rob is working on developing a website so that he can post photos from the race. We’ll let you know when it’s up and running. In addition to the people thanked in Ryan’s message, we’d like to also thank Rebecca Foster for designing and screening the t-shirts and Weichert Realty for financing the shirts. Here are the results for the 2006 Run for Robbie Awards:
Fastest female: Jill Pujzik (Ryan’s friend)
Fastest male: Braden Heller (Mandy’s brother)
Top Fundraisers: Ben Phelps (MWC alum) and Pamela Geraghty (CASA alum)
Best Dressed female: Eileen Hare (Mandy’s mother)
Best Dressed male: John Langan (MWC alum)
