Friday, November 17, 2006 - Standing by Himself

Hello Everyone.....we just got home from Proj. Walk and are happy to report Rob had another fantastic week. Today, he practiced standing up without holding onto anything (no trainer, no walker). He was actually able to throw a few punches into a punching bag while standing which was pretty cool. I’d guess he could stand by himself for about 20-30 seconds at a time. Rob’s left leg continues to grow stronger ...he was able to take about 5 steps with the left leg yesterday and he did not need his trainer to initiate the step. His left foot still drags a bit and quickly fatigues but the addition of an AFO (which is essentially an ankle/calf brace) should correct it. He was casted on Wednesday for the AFO which went okay except for the huge cut the tech gave him when he sawed off the mold(so much for those things being harmless). We pick up the AFO in two weeks and by then Rob should be well on his way to cruising around. We did get his walker this week which he is going try practicing at home. Thank you to those of you who offered to send us one...the walker he uses is so specialized it was just easier to order it directly. So that’s the news on Rob’s recovery this week. It is still 70 degrees and sunny so are loving it!!! We hope you east coasters are staying warm.

Monday, November 13, 2006 - Daily Record Article II

Here is link to an article that was written about Rob in today’s paper “The Daily Record”. If the link does not work...go to http://www.dailyrecord.com and click on local. Rob’s story is about halfway down the page.

We of coarse are excited about Rob being featured in the paper but we do wish the article was less about how controversial the program is and more about how AMAZING it has been for Rob (thereby attracting more east coasters to the program). In any event, I just wanted to thank Arlen, Clint, O’Ryan, Jasmine and friends, Barbara, Pat and Eileen for attending the Steps to Recovery event and cheering Rob on. It was a FANTASTIC DAY!!!!! We’ll let everyone know as soon as the Proj. Walk video is posted. Enjoy the Daily Record article.
