Friday, December 08, 2006 - Left Leg Stepping
THE NEWS WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR…
Yesterday, Rob took steps with his left leg WITHOUT assistance from his trainer (previously, he needed the trainer to bend the leg in order to initiate the step). The left foot was getting caught on his right foot at times but he was definitely doing all the work himself. His trainers were visibly excited and throughout the session other trainers around the gym kept congratulating him. The timing is interesting though because both Rob and I were having very bad days yesterday. In fact, just minutes before the session began Rob was asking “When am I going to stop being jealous of everyone around me that can walk, put keys in doors, pick things up when they drop them?”. Kind of a tough question to answer right? Needless to say, he was feeling better when we drove home last night after his session. We even picked up a Christmas tree for our apartment. The tree is a little sparse because all of our decorations are at home but it is cute! Marley is already playing with her presents under the tree (how she knows which ones are hers, I"ll never know). We hope everyone is having fun preparing for the holiday season

Wednesday, December 06, 2006 - Lasik a Success
Lasik was a resounding SUCCESS! Finally something goes down without a hitch. Rob had his surgery Friday afternoon and after about 5 hours of burning/stinging and sleeping to avoid the pain, he felt great and had perfect vision. We had a follow up appointment on Saturday and the MD reported that Rob’s vision is 20/15. Yeah! We have to put drops in for a while but he is feeling good and isn’t reporting any complications. He did end the week nicely at Project Walk as well...he resumed training with the walker on Friday. He still needs some assistance with initiating the left leg but hopefully adding the ankle brace will help. This week he is adding one day to his training so he will be completing 5 two hour sessions. Let’s hope and pray that he is able to keep up with the rigorous workouts
That’s all for now!
