Welcome to the Updates Page

Thanks for checking in, so here’s the latest chapter....

Tuesday, March 20, 2007 - Shame on Us!!

We are so sorry we haven’t updated the site in awhile- it has just been so busy around here! We are scheduled to move in to our new apartment April 1. We are a little sad as we prepare to leave our home at the beach. We are excited on one hand to have a backyard for Marley in the new place but we will miss smelling the surf and hearing the sea lions at night:( Mandy is starting her job on Monday so we are preparing for a whole new level of chaos to ensue. At least the job is part time so it won’t be as difficult as before. We have decided to extend our stay in Carlsbad until January 2008 and we really hope that by then Rob will be well on his way to walking independently. He is continuing to make amazing progress at Project Walk. Yesterday, he was able to do a squat without holding on to the bar...he just needed a yoga block in between his knees to prevent them from collapsing. He also walked on the treadmill for 25 minutes with a 2 1/2 pound weight on his right ankle. His left leg still lags behind significantly. Rob’s trainers believe that with the addition of a device called the Bioness L300 (originally developed to aid people with dropped foot) his left leg will catch up with his right one. The device costs around $6000 so we are currently trying to figure out if it is covered under his insurance plan. We have set August 25th as a tentative date for Run for Robbie 2007. The race will be a 5k in Sterling, VA. We are close to securing a location for the appreciation dinner in Sterling/Herndon. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the support section and click on ‘planned fundraisers’. We’ll be working on the written materials over the weekend so that we can start collecting items for the silent auction. I guess that’s about it for now.

Sunday, March 04, 2007 - Support the Wall Bracelet are HERE!

Great news everyone-the Support the Wall bracelets have arrived and are available for purchase. Please visit the ‘Shop’ section to order your bracelet. We are excited to launch the Support the Wall store and hope to add more items over the next few months Thank you all in advance for all those ‘bulk’ orderssmile. We are still putting the finishing touches on the website but we are looking for feedback from users. Please email robbie@supportthewall.net with comments, suggestions, and problems you are experiencing with the site. We are already working on designing a logo and we are thinking about creating a message board instead of posting comments under each blog/video. Our goal is to make Support the Wall a very popular place to be and we need to know how we’re doingï

Rob is continuing to progress at an unbelievable pace. He’s added 30 minutes of cycling to his daily workout routine and some days he ends up staying at the gym for 3 hours. If only we had his energy! Rob’s left glut muscle has returned so his squats have gotten much stronger. He can actually squat a little bit without holding onto a bar. The 2007 Steps to Recovery has been set for October 13 so now Rob has a goal. There are 3 levels of participation during the event: inside the gym (about 20 steps), outside the gym (about 50-80 steps) and from the deli (about 1/2 mile). Last year, Rob walked outside the gym so this year his sights are on the deli. No doubt he’ll make it! The ‘Steps to Recovery’ is an event like no other. We hope Rob has a huge cheering section this yearï Rob and I remain busy preparing to move (again!). We will be signing the lease on our new place Tuesday and then it’s off to the garage sales next weekend. Check out the new video in our library…it’s from Wedding Oke!
