Monday, April 30, 2007 - Rob went SURFING!

Yes..you read that correctly.  Rob actually went surfing this weekend!  On Sunday we attended an event sponsored by ‘Life Rolls On’in Huntington Beach (about 1 hour north from Carlsbad).  It was the first time Rob was able to swim in the ocean since the accident.  He got 3 excellent rides which his mom caught on videotape.  He’s editing the footage now and we’ll be posting it in the next day or so.  Special thanks to Orion, Laya and John for fighting the waves and keeping Rob afloat and to Jasmine and Keith for donating the Xterra wet suit.  We are so grateful to all the Life Rolls On volunteers and to Patrick for encouraging Rob to attend the event.  We can’t wait until the next “They Will Surf Again” event.  Photos are posted in the Gallery under "Life Rolls On"

Monday, April 16, 2007 - New Photos and New Video

Hi Everyone-
We hope you all enjoyed watching Rob’s latest video production.  P.S the last piece of footage in the video of me (Mandy) was shot when Rob planted the camera in the kitchen cabinet.  He put Marley’s squirrel in the cabinet and asked me to get him a snack. Since we have a mouse problem..he thought he would capture me screaming at the sight of the squirrel thinking it was real.  Unfortunately for Rob I saw the camera before the squirrel so his plan was foiled.  It was a good effort though.  We did upload some new photos today..they are in the Project Walk folder in the photo gallery.  We know it’s been awhile since we updated the photos so we hope you like them.  We have finally settled into our new apartment and have the place pretty well furnished.  We had a bbq this weekend with some of our friends from Project Walk.  We made homemade Sangria which eventually led us to whipping out the Wedding Oke videos!  It was a nice ending to the week which was a rough for Rob due to increased spasms and pain.  He actually had to take a prescription pain med and he hasn’t done since Oct/Nov.  We are hoping the issues are temporary and that the spasms indicate that ‘things are waking up”.  We’ll see.  OH....almost forgot, we were able to get Rob into the community hot tub last week by ourselves.  Getting in was easier than getting out but overall it went really well.  He really enjoyed relaxing in the tub even though he could only feel the warmth of the water from his shoulders up.
