Monday, May 28, 2007 - Memorial Day Fun

We hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day.  We understand the weather on the East Coast has been much nicer then here in ‘sunny California’.  The weather reports aren’t kidding about "May Gray" and "June Gloom".  In any event, we had lots of visitors this weekend.  Mandy’s brother Braden and his girlfriend Jackie arrived Tuesday and left this morning and long time friends Heather and John arrived Friday and are leaving Wednesday.  We had a great day on Saturday which we started off by Kayaking in La Jolla Cove.  Rob was in a tandem boat with Braden and although he couldn’t paddle he had fun taking in the sights.  He was somewhat uncomfortable in the boat but he did well considering we were on the water for about 1 hour and 1/2.  We saw a sea turtle, sting rays, sea lions and amazing cliffs and caves.  Although it was cloudy we all still managed to get sunburned...odd huh?  After we had a picnic lunch on the beach, we headed over to Torrey Pines for paragliding.  The adaptive sports programs in San Diego are just fantastic and we are thrilled that Rob is able to take part in recreational activities despite his paralysis.  Unfortunately, though the weekend was a little too "action packed" and Rob is now pretty sick.  We haven’t figured out what it is exactly (strep maybe?) b/c the doctors offices are closed today but we plan on being there at 8:00am tomorrow to pick up some meds.  He’s in rough shape I must say..prob. the sickest he’s been in 5 years.  We’ll update everyone soon on his progress after we return from the doctor’s office tomorrow.  In the meantime, please think positive thoughts for a fast recovery as we don’t want him missing too much training at Project Walk!  Speaking of..Rob has had a bit of a hard time lately because his favorite and most experienced trainer resigned last week.  It was a huge disappointment for the entire gym:(   We also found out that our buyers have backed out of our home sale.  So it’s back to square one.  It felt so good to write the June mortgage payment thinking it was the last.  Oh well...hopefully someone will come along and present us with a fabulous offer.  One can only hope!  We’ll post some photos of the weekend activities soon.  Off to check Rob’s temperature.
