Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - Anyone want to by a house?

That’s right ...the buyers backed out the day before we were scheduled to close on our home.  It has been an extremely stressful week of negotiations and in the end we didn’t win out.  We are naturally extremely frustrated with the entire process and are increasingly fearful that our house will not sell.  Let’s hope the next buyers will actually close the deal...they say 3 times a charm right? In the meantime,  Rob and I are hanging in by a thread.  The process has taken quite a toll on us and we are exhausted.   We are very much looking forward to our trip to VA next month.  We hope to see many of you there (have you sent your registration?)  The silent auction is coming together beautifully...we’ll post a preview soon (lots of sporting events .  Not too much else to report other than the pain in Rob’s hands has come back with a vengence.  We’re not sure why it has returned but he’s doing his best to manage.  So that’s the story for now-wish this report was more positive but sometime we grasp at straws.

Sunday, August 05, 2007 - Updates from Cali

~Rob
We are hanging in..  Rob is busy training for the 1/2 mile walk he will be participating in at Project Walk’s Annual Steps to Recovery event this October.  He did his first trial run of the route and he walked .2 of a mile with a walker.  It took about 56 minutes and it was much harder than he anticipated.  He still has his eyes on the finish line though.   If only that left leg would catch up to the right...he’s really be cruising.  A client who completed the walk last year took 2 hours his first try and that client has since graduated from PW and returned home.  So we are hopeful that by October he will be able to do the entire walk in less than 2 hours.  We haven’t been doing too much socially..the beginning of the summer was quite exciting w/visitors and weddings but we haven’t done much since.  We’re a little bored but with Project Walk and Mandy’s job we stay very busy.
~House Update
The good news is that we accepted an offer on our house, the bad news is that is is the worst offer on the planet and several issues came up during our home inspection.  We are currently waiting for the buyers ‘demand list’ which is making us quite anxious.  When we accepted the offer we told them it was ‘as is’ (mainly because their offer was so low) but apparently that didn’t stick.  It is extremely difficult to negotiate this deal from California.  Please hope and pray that the buyers requests are not ‘over the top’ and that they will accept a credit instead of asking us to complete the repairs.  It does not look like we are going to close by the 15th when our next mortgage payment is due which is irritating to say the least.
~Run for Robbie Update
From Eileen Hare...
I had the opportunity to walk the race route over the weekend and wanted to let everyone know that yes...there are hills.  Nothing like Sparta, but they are there nonetheless.  The route is beautiful-you’ll cross over a stream and spend much of the run in the woods.  Some of you have asked about running/walking with a stroller and I would say it is NOT recommended because most of the route is unpaved gravel.  We have about 23 runners confirmed for the race so far-if you are planning to run please send in your registration form so that we can have your race number and t-shirt ready on race day.  Thanks!
